凱:“人身難得,死亡無常”,這種情況下該怎麼修?
Student: Facing the fact of "the impermanence of life and death" – how should one practice under such circumstances?
清涼月老師:人身難得,僅僅是在現在這種情況下,也就是在低層思維狀態,你無法把握的時候,它是難得的。為什麼難得?是靠瞎碰才碰到一個人身,因為你對你的思維狀態沒有自主性,所以通過這種“碰”才碰到一個人身。當你有自主性的時候,人身一點都不難得,因為你已經能夠把握自己的思維,也就是你能夠做自己思想的主人,就不存在人身難得的問題。
Master Qingliang Yue: The fact of that “it is difficult to incarnate as a human being” holds true only under such circumstances where the state of thinking in a low level and the control over it is in the lack. Why so? It's because one stumbles upon a human life by chance, as one lacks autonomy over his thought process, thus encountering a human life through this 'chance.' Human life isn't rare at all, when one has autonomy over his mind, making oneself the master of his mind, thereby eliminating the notion of rare human life.
至於說死亡無常問題,是沒有這回事的。因為死亡本身就是一個念頭,在佛教裏面已經解決死亡問題,但事實上對死亡問題的解決最後是沒有死亡可解決。死亡無常,也僅僅是對在這種虛幻的境界中流浪生死的人來談是這樣的,但證到一定層次是沒有這種境界的,說法都是對具體的對象去說法的,而不是對所有的思維狀態去說法的。佛教的經典是對我們一般人這樣去談,但佛教經典的某些內容是對過來人進行印證時用的,所以有時候你看佛教的經典,這裏說的這樣,那裏說的那樣。對此要有所瞭解,不能被佛教對低層思維狀態的人談的那些權巧的方法所束縛。
As for the issue of impermanent death, it doesn't exist. Death itself is just a thought, and in Buddhism, the problem of death has already been resolved. However, ultimately breaking through the illusion of death is the true solution to the problem of death. Impermanent death only pertains to those who wander through life and death in this illusory realm. However, the mind enlightenment can break through and go beyond such a realm. Buddhist scriptures speak to ordinary individuals, and certain content serves as confirmation for those who have attained enlightenment. Therefore, when reading Buddhist scriptures, it's important to understand that some passages are directed towards individuals at different thinking levels accordingly. Don't be bound by superficial expression in the scriptures.
